Ancestors

Ancestors is a family drama set in virtual reality, where the parents are played by digital Doubles modeled from the audience. At the heart of the story are their Descendants, who challenge the inequality of the world built by their parents.

​Ancestors advances the innovative audiovisual storytelling format introduced by Captured, where the viewer's face is captured and modeled into a role-playing character in a 3D animated narrative. Ancestors is set in a seemingly inescapable world where AI-generated versions of ourselves begin reproducing with one another. Surprising and unique lineages are generated, passing the viewers’ traits forward with each successive generation.
